An eLearning module designed to help newly hired ESL teachers create more natural conversations in the classroom.
About this project
I designed and developed this eLearning concept project for newly hired ESL teachers, to assist them in creating a conducive environment for natural conversation in the classroom. Many language schools notice newly employed ESL teachers have difficulty getting low level students to expand on their ideas in conversation activities. This can lead to frustration for both teachers and learners and in worst-case scenarios complaints to management. After analyzing this common problem, I proposed an eLearning experience where teachers could see common situations being re-enacted and provided solutions. The goal was to improve classroom satisfaction and reduce the impacts of these problems, by providing new hires with a risk-free environment to make choices and get practical ideas that they can actually use in class.
The Process
I consulted an experienced ESL manager as my subject matter expert (SME) to develop the action map and establish the overall goal for this project. We identified the actions required to help new teachers with speaking activities.
